An Eternal Romance

Hello Everybody,

Today I am going to share with you a pure, passionate, and intimate relationship which lasts forever.

It all began in the Garden of Eden when God first created man and woman. They were made in perfect harmony with the Lord, but then they sinned against God. The peace was broken, and sin entered the world. God, in his deep love for mankind, gave Adam and Eve clothes to wear and the option for atonement in sins through animal sacrifices. Innocent blood covers the cost of sin. Animal sacrifices were only a temporary solution; God had a redemptive plan in mind. The Lord promised that He would send a Messiah to save His people from their sin.

Zechariah 9:9 (ESV), “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.”

He would send someone who would wash our filthy sins away, and we would become white as snow. Isaiah 1:18 (ESV), ““Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.”

When Jesus came down to earth, He came to share His everlasting life with us. Then once His time on earth was up, He willingly stayed on that cross, even though He could have easily gotten up and walked away. He took on all of our sins and accepted all of God the Father’s wrath in order to give us life. The Lord’s love is unconditional. 1 Peter 2:24 (ESV), “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.”

Jesus rose again three days later, and He promised to return someday to take us up to live with Him in Heaven forever. God left the Holy Spirit behind on earth to live within the hearts of all who believe in Him. God knew we needed a Helper for strength, wisdom, and encouragement.

The disciples of Jesus began to preach the Lord’s salvation story to all around them, which gave birth to the church. God loves the church with His unfailing love, and we as the church are betrothed to marry Jesus, the bridegroom, someday in heaven. Revelation 19:7 (ESV), “Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready;”

The Bible is the Lord’s love letter which was written for us. We await His second coming, but until then we can talk to Him every second of every day through prayer, worship, and reading His Word. Even before you were born, the Lord has treasured you and orchestrated each moment of your life with His love. His love is unconditional which means that no matter what you do, His love for you will never change or fade away. His love will always burn passionately for you, and He will always welcome you back when you stray away from home.

Here’s a passage which I find incredibly encouraging. This passage reminds me that no matter what, God’s love endures forever.

Psalm 136 (ESV)

“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever.

Give thanks to the God of gods, for his steadfast love endures forever.

Give thanks to the Lord of lords, for his steadfast love endures forever;

to him who alone does great wonders, for his steadfast love endures forever;

to him who by understanding made the heavens, for his steadfast love endures forever;

to him who spread out the earth above the waters, for his steadfast love endures forever;

to him who made the great lights, for his steadfast love endures forever;

the sun to rule over the day, for his steadfast love endures forever;

the moon and stars to rule over the night, for his steadfast love endures forever;

to him who struck down the firstborn of Egypt, for his steadfast love endures forever;

and brought Israel out from among them, for his steadfast love endures forever;

with a strong hand and an outstretched arm, for his steadfast love endures forever;

to him who divided the Red Sea in two, for his steadfast love endures forever;

and made Israel pass through the midst of it, for his steadfast love endures forever;

but overthrew Pharaoh and his host in the Red Sea, for his steadfast love endures forever;

to him who led his people through the wilderness, for his steadfast love endures forever;

to him who struck down great kings, for his steadfast love endures forever;

and killed mighty kings, for his steadfast love endures forever;

Sihon, king of the Amorites, for his steadfast love endures forever;

and Og, king of Bashan, for his steadfast love endures forever;

and gave their land as a heritage, for his steadfast love endures forever;

a heritage to Israel his servant, for his steadfast love endures forever.

It is he who remembered us in our low estate, for his steadfast love endures forever;

and rescued us from our foes, for his steadfast love endures forever;

he who gives food to all flesh, for his steadfast love endures forever.

Give thanks to the God of heaven, for his steadfast love endures forever.”

Wow, what an encouraging chapter. His love for us is steadfast and will endure forever. We will live with Him for all eternity because the Lord of Hosts cares about us. Isn’t it incredible that God, who is high above all things, deeply desires a relationship with us, and He wants to live with us forever? I don’t know about you, but that blows my mind. Although Pride and Prejudice is one of the best romances of all time, our romance with Christ is far better than any earthly love story. Remember to take time and give thanks to the Lord for being compassionate towards us, and for His unfailing love. One thing Remains by Jesus Culture really summarizes this Bible chapter and is a wonderful reminder of God’s incredible love for us. The chorus says,

“Your love never fails, never gives up, never runs out on me

On and on and on and on it goes. It overwhelms and satisfies my soul.
And I never, ever, have to be afraid. One thing remains”

Thank you all for reading, and remember, Jesus loves you, A LOT. I will see you all again next Friday.

Have a blessed week everybody.

Signed with God’s Love,

Sarah *hugs*
